Money down the drain..?

As tomorrow 29 Sep 2005, last thur of the month nears, it signals that i've lost 100% of the money I invested in the market..thats 8.5k in options + brokerages.. huh.. somebody's lose is somebody else's gain.

My attempt to study and experiment the high-risk futures and options markets is total success. Reasons why i lost the money completely.

1) I took a contrarian view. it clicks only once-a-while...so go with the herd?

2) no strategy. i should have entered with strict stop-loss. meaning if price goes down by a certain % i should have exited. i never had any such stop loss in mind.

3) lack of time. having a profession and paid handsomely for it means, you have to work at it sometimes. but futures market needs constant monitoring..huh..

all in all a bad month for me from financial pt of view..hope i learn something from it and use it down the line..

Where is Nifty heading..?

To make some sense of where market is heading, some people read these charts :-)

Mallika's Myth to premiere in Toronto

I'm not sure when did this movie became Mallika's..I'm sure she's gonna play some small role in the movie (they'll then call it cameo role)..

anyway i've not watched any of her movies..well, if murder songs come on Mtv and nobody's around then i watch them, ofcourse..

she's really has big (what?) attitude (ooof)!

Can somebody loose 75% in less than 2 weeks..yes...you can.

On Sep 1st, I posted this

I had expressed my new-found enthusaism for financial market and making money out of money..(that seems to be hot thing in mumbaikar's mind now-a-days it seems) and the derivative markets where i started trading thsi month.. But it has been pretty bitter experience for me in that so far. when every Tom,Dick and Harry (ok..i'm not going to say which category i belong to) is making money in todays market, reverse is happening to me..I lost >75% of my money invested on the start of this month, and the lose is still climbing up as the days go.hmm...now i see that this enthusaism is fading and turning back to blog and calvin again..

Life's a circle.

traffic woes

Bangalore IT czars and karnataka state govt are at war over the state of bangalore..IT companies (rightly) claiming nothing has happened in infrastructre or atmost it has only worsened..govt throwing the ball back into their court saying they should intake more locals (what kinda response is that?)..but at the end of the day it doesn't seem to be moving towards any solution and status quo being maintained..that means it'll continue to take >1hr for me to reach my home from office in the evenings..

personally i want IT companies threat to come to true..the threat being non-participation in IT.in which will be good drubbing for the state govt as well as for the city..when the city cant afford to take care of its current citizens, it can paint its face black, create bad name and atleast make sure more people dont come to it...hahaha..

meanwhile, CM Dharam Singh has claimed that Infosys mentor Narayana Murthy called him from London and congratulated him on take off of intl airport..hey i thought intl airport work began when SMKrishna was the CM, oh ok..it was started again by Dharam.. :-) i hope intl airport comes up during NRN's lifetime (or atleast in my lifetime, that'll be hopeflly 25 yrs extra time, is that enough for them?)

serendipty

I've been seeing this for-a-while in Zee studio..thats right, for-a-while..4-5 times may be..the funny thing is I didn't get the chance of watching the beginning of the movie..the initial circumstances where they meet, kinda fall in love and separate..
my luck is so bad that i start from the scene where they think of searching of the other one last time..(cusack getting engaged scene, i think, is the earliest secen i've watched in this movie)

usually i flip between the channels faster than light's speed and when i land in this channel i pause a while to see if there is any watchable movie..yes..watchable..the only bold channel available yet..(the other day i was watching basic instincts..:-) )..thats how i get to watch this movie..

ok..this movie doesn't fall into that category. but there is something in this movie that i liked it..(ok.i'm not going to say that i identify with hero, cusack..)..thankfully not a complex story..merely a sequence of events..that trace of comedy..

so, when is this movie playing next..?

A Tribute

Y'day my bike covered the prestigious 15000 KM mark.

Its been a good 3 year association with this great bike, the silver stylish japaneese suzuki fiero, and not the indian TVS fiero. I dont have anything against the TVS nametag, as i have spend 12 of most important years in a school bearing that name.
but still when it comes to bike, i like that japaneese tag for some reason.

Coming back to my bike, our relationship started on a bad note. When i bought the bike, i was holding learner license and I didn't how to ride the bike completely. Add to that not many was willing to lend their bike for me to learn. No offense on them. I wouldn't necessarily hand over my bike someone like that. Still, I had to do it. I had to buy it when i didn't know the nuances of driving. Pressure. Peer pressure, I'd say. 2 out of 5 bachelors in my house have bought bikes, and i didn't want to be the last one. so, i did it. Options were scarce in those days. Pulsar was not heard of. Victor was out as new but had a long wait list. and then this splendour which looked like last gen bike. the heavy-sounding, light-weigting yamaha was there, but y have yama as your vehicle. Perfect choice. Fiero.

whats the bad note i was talking about..oh..next day morning i take the bike and head to office..started early, not to beat the traffic but to cover non-expertise. and it happened. the road was free, the signal was yellow (or orange whatever you say that) and i had to make a right-turn..i decided to beat the signal..well..too late..am in the middle of crossing, breaked, breaked hard and that too the front brake (courtesy my tvs champ drivings)..damn it..there i go down in the road and the traffice goes around me as if nothing happened..2 xfic cops standing nearby come and help me out of road, take 100 bucks as charges for helping me out (and the fact that i have just learners license, no L board and driving lonely in the busy airport road)..shame on you man! the new bike had some bents, dents and bruishes, thankfully nothing serious.

After that incident, my bike never let me down. Though i let the bike down quite often by not servicing it properly and timely, getting it drenched in heavy rains and most importantly never letting a girl sit behind it. Poor fellow. (me too)

Driving in bangalore roads only improves ones skills. toughest of the terrains and thickest of the vehicle density, and the bike still delivers. it may not be first to exit the signal or loudest on the road, but it delivers on speed and mileage.

i dont take my bike to the new office, preferring the bus over it. Dont get me wrong that i hate the bike, but because everybody suggested it..but i'm losing precious time sitting idle in the bus that takes like 1hr to reach the destination in peak time, while i noticed that my bike can do it in half that time..perhaps time to switch back to the biking days..lets see.

Hope this relationship lasts for more and more such 15k kms...
I'll love this bike forever(ok..ok...till i find a ladylove or till i upgrade to four-wheeler).

Thanks a lot my dear bike!

Weekend that ended

what does a bachelor look forward to in a weekend?
Pretty tough question for me given that, hmm, u know, i dont have any, hmm, u know what ..so what i do..those 2 precious days when there is no need to report to the duty..

nothing in particular, perhaps..these days its going ok because i've started playing cricket on the holidays..and then there is F1 to look forward and get even on speed after driving on bangalore roads..and then there is this meetings..that happens once-a-while. meeting with old-colleagues or collegemates..either because someone landed from other city or even worse in somebody's (marriage) reception where invariably the question that gets asked again and again is "when is yours?"..
ofcourse, there is TV that goes without saying. what a interesting weekend i'm having nah..

coming back to the last weekend, you know all of the above happened..(yeah, thats how i wrote the above stuff)..
* Played cricket on both days in the damn cool weather in blr where sun simply refuses to come out and make you sweat..
* kimi won in another interesting and incredibel F1 race..Pablo continues to throw away the points at the last minute..mclaren will be wondering is it worth the buck having him or get someone else at lower price tag (hey, how about me..i drive brilliantly..i drive in blr roads)
* met up few friends in my friends bro's reception..you know whats the topic of discussion for us last benchers there..
