When I entered the stadium at some time after 1pm, I saw shewag taking guard. wow! what a timing..After a ardous morning which involved finalising a house for rent for my friend and then while on way to drop him at Majestic, my broke down majestically somewhere on Richmond road..fixed it in a nearby workshop..
I was trying to figure where my friends are in the stand, found them and struggling to make it to the seat, when all of the stadium stood up, i thought 4 or 6, turned only to see shewag marching back..Indians dont give up so easily, you see..I mean the indians in the stadium and all hopeless people watching it on television..There was huge roar when local boy dravid came on to bat..meanwhile on the other end, akash chopra seemed to be angry at shewag for getting out before him and soon followed him to pick a fight inside the palyers room..Again a huge roar...this time dada ganguly walked in and soon runned out..he didn't want to spoil his weekend party by standing out too much in the sun..well there was race between runs and wickets. Another huge roar when VVS walked in to take on aussies..this pair of vvs and dravid seemed stable..they scored more than 10 runs before VVS also walked out with satisfaction on the job done..Finally people in the stands realised that they had expected too much from the indian team and started cheering team for every single..they were sure they're not gonna see any boundaries today..
Meanwhile in the stands there was "in-house'" entertainment arranged by the Standard chartered bank..a band playing instruments at full volume all the tamil/kannda dappagunthu (aka local loud music suitable dancing for death procesions) songs..One girl having a poster that read "We want Sex" became a huge attraction..and then there was cheer girls..8 girls doing 8 different steps at same time.
Back to action, 2 more batsmen silently got out and went back..and then real batsman walked in..Pathan..people still hasn't given up hope..another huge roar of welcome for him. I decided i've seen enough of indian batsmen for a day and came back home. No wicket fell for the ~1 hour of play..not sure what it shows..
whether I'm unlucky with indian team or Indian team unlucky with me!!
Sunday morning, I got up at 5.30am for F1 qualifying session at Suzuka, Japan. As usual, MS got the pole position, with Ralf, sato and button behind him. Race result was slightly different. MS, Ralf, button and sato taking top-4 . Not many incidents to make it interesting race..MS was driving as if there was no one else in the race..Next year's line-up seems interesting and challenging, so till then we'll have to put up with MS dominance.
