Keypad locked

Got it from a fwd and it was interesting!

Hi All,

The Emergency Number worldwide for Mobile is 112.

If you find yourself out of coverage area of your mobile network and there is an emergency, dial 112 and the mobile will search any existing network to establish the emergency number for you.

Do share this important info with others too. Hope you'll never need to use it though!

And interestingly.. This number 112 can be dialed even while the keypad is locked.

112 - this may not be worldwide number..
call wasn't going anywhere when it tried here :-)

another number you call without unlocking is 911 (US emergency
number)..112 is EU..

india is 100,101..which you cant type in cell phone without unlocking :-(

That's right. However, 100 is not an emergency number per se, it's only the number of the "police control room". I had occasion to call it once and they were not all that helpful. I think in India you're better off calling a friend instead of the authorities.
