Doubt?

Are the dogs in Vegetarian's home (For eg.Brahmin/Iyer etc..) also a veggie?
Do they allow the dog that has munched on some bones, inside the house?

In my case, no. I've had some dogs and several cats in the house (not all at the same time), and I don't remember anyone making a fuss about them eating birds or insects or rats or any of the wildlife around. We didn't actively feed them non-veg food though (except for some cats who wouldn't eat anything other than eggs). On the other hand, I've also had a dog who would happily eat papayas and tomatoes.

I am not sure about the rest of the brahmins, my mom had a dog who was fed with meat once a month: he was supposed to eat it outside the house, no meat inside the house (grandmom's rule). The rest of his days were spent growing fat and lazy with thayir-sadham!
