Fools day! - what we did last year

It was just few days after i joined the company. Our gang was talking about whom to fool about next day. People throw in names of director, MD, HR etc. just for the heck of it. Meanwhile Mr A walks in and says we guys just talk and wont be able to fool anyone next day. with that remark he leaves for day. Trapped. We were all looking for whom to ambush and this guy walks in!
some guys remember incident that happened week ago..A was driving his car back from official lunch with gang and he happened to go in wrong direction in one of the circle and a bikie coming in the front, got frightened and fell down! A didn't stop the car!

keeping this incident in mind, we formulated our strategy. We downloaded a kannada font and typed in a letter kannada. The letter is from Traffic Police commissioner's office asking Mr A to appear in court on so and so date else face arrest! Most of it is in kannada (A doesn't know kannada!) with his name, car no and few other details handwritten in english. To add authenticity, we copy in police logo and put it at the header..also only the copy is sent to the accused..so we take xerox of it..we print out the envelope also with from as traffic police address! To make it look like courier one, we write in some numbers in the envelope!
To make sure he doesn't doubt, we get this envelope delivered to him by office security and get signature for it..the procedure thats done for any normal letter received.

Apr 1
security delivers it. Mr A opens the envelope and is clueless as it is in kannada. But he identifies that it has come from traffic police office! he asks one of our gangmate sitting next to him to read it out for him. bang! he reads the contents of it! the bikie who fell down, noted down the number and has complained to the police and court hearing is set on Apr 10! A is bewildered. News slowly spreads around and everybody drops in and advise him on how to handle the situation.
One of our gangmate comes to his rescue saying he knows someone in that office and can help him out if he wants. A readily agrees. From his desk he calls a junk number and talks to a fellow in kannada. After a good (oneside!) conversation, he comes back and says the matter is easy to settle. Just 3000 rs needs to be spent. Give the money and he can relax. Mr A is relatively happy that he dont have to go to court etc..calls up his friends and starts ranting that 1st day of the financial year itself he is losing money etc.. He also hands over 2000 Rs which he had at that time to the friend promising that remaining amount he would give it the next day!

over the coffee table, we discuss what to do with 2k we got! we finally decide it's my birthday and am giving a corner-house icecream treat to all the folks..A gets invited and is happy to join! Post-lunch, entire division gets ready to celebrate my birthday. We start to the ice-cream parlour..Just before getting out of the office, people break the plot! A was stunned to say the least! blushingly, he agrees to take us all to ice-cream parlour anyway! A is not gonna forget this incident for some time to come:-)

sure! it really great to fool around (as long as it doesn't happen to me!)

So, whom are you fooling this year!

Another Tsunami coming?

Atleast, that's what rediff is flashing at half past midnight india time..

and me here at the office trying to tide through the tsunami that has struck me (ofcourse I was the one who created it in the first place :-( ..)

How's bangalore weather?

If somebody says 'hot', then pack them off to some place in Tamil Nadu, infact any place in TN (ofcourse, not kodai, ooty ones) for couple of days and ask the question again. Most likely the answer is it is sweet. misc answer should be it's cool.

Madurai was red hot during my stay over the weekend and definitely it is getting hotter as it approaches May! sigh! i was planning for trip next month, but am thinking of not going back for atleast for the next 4 months! When the train was stationary in a Dindigul town at around 9.30pm entire train was sweating!

And I've some relation with Side Upper berth. When ever my RAC ticket gets confirmed, I get this Side Upper berth and that too either seat no 8/72, the ones that are closest to the toilets!
A feet shorter than my height, it doesn't let you sleep in a sleeper coach! Somehow i managed to make it back to bangalore city (where the train reached an hour late, as usual) in one piece.

And today (monday 28th March), i took some important decision that'll change my professional life..Hmm.stay tuned for it!

Murphy's Computer Laws :-)

Murphy's Computer Laws

1. When computing, whatever happens, behave as though you meant it to happen.

2. When you get to the point where you really understand your computer, it's probably obsolete.

3. The first place to look for information is in the section of the manual where you least expect to find it.

4. When the going gets tough, upgrade.

5. For every action, there is an equal and opposite malfunction.

6. To err is human . . . to blame your computer for your mistakes is even more human, it is downright natural.

7. He who laughs last probably made a back-up.

8. If at first you do not succeed, blame your computer.

9. A complex system that does not work is invariably found to have evolved from a simpler system that worked just fine.

10. The number one cause of computer problems is computer solutions.

11. A computer program will always do what you tell it to do, but rarely what you want to do.

and the tab taste leaves a sour taste in your tongue..yuck..can't they sugarcoat it..i hate these tabs..me taking a tablet makes quite a scene for others.

If you're wondering what above are, these are the top news items across the nation, according to indiatimes page @ 9.20AM 11th March ! And yes, photo is also theirs, And somebody said, "Picture speaks a thousand words":-(

I've not seen the today's edition of TOI yet, but I'm sure there will be photo of Ten'kar walking back and shewag lashing out in the front page. yeah, sure. India's future depends on the outcome of this match and nation would have entered into some record books had Ten scored his record ton.

Fresh Day, Every day!

Saw the movie "50 first dates". Though the movie and the performances weren't great, i liked the concept (and i know there would be atleast half-a-dozen movies on this concept already).

DB (Drew Barrymore, not DataBase) starts everyday freshly, contents from the previous day being erased completely from the memory. Every day is Sunday, the day she met with a accident that caused this out-of-the world problem. I wish I also meet with such accident that makes me live in a sunday forever(just note that previous day my sal was credited, so my bank account is fatty).

Hmm..if only things happen the way we want in this world..I think, more or else I fall into the below category :-(
"I believe you should live each day as if it is your last, which is why I don't have any clean laundry, because, come on, who wants to wash clothes on the last day of their life?"

Enjoy the week ahead!

On top of the world!

Narain started new chapter for indian auto-sports by making debut in australian GP y'day. Way to go man! He was 2 laps behind the winner on finish, but i think he'll improve as he gets more practice on the tracks.

MSchumi didn't make the finish line and I was happy for that. I've seen enough of him:-( Giancarlo Fisichella (lets just call him GF from now on, ok) lead from start to end. Strong performance from small teams such as RedBull, toyota & sauber is a good sign. Lets hope that this season becomes more exciting from here!

The beauty and the crowd around her

Saw the quarter-final match of Sania and Jankovic (have i got the name correct?heck, i dont care) y'day. There was nothing to enjoy about the match given the crowd behaviour. Indians sure know how to make their presence felt. By incessantly shouting before, during and after the game, calling out names loudly, they made a mess of the game. I think sania should go and play in counties like Elbonia to avoid such crowd.

anyway, i liked her (game). Come on sania, cheer up. I'll be there to shout support for you in the next games (sitting in front a TV, that is) :-)

Martha & a little town prison

Martha Stewart wrote in one letter, according to the newspaper. "They do not know that time passes slowly, there are no good educational opportunities, there is little of value with which to pass the time."..More

gee..what does she expect in a prison. Maybe a computer with broadband connection, pizza delivery, a in-prison discotheque, state-of-the-art gymnasium and a swimming pool and close it out with a beautiful garden so that she can continue her profession here..Maybe I dont know US well, these things may be there already.
